Our Hospital

Village Animal Clinic was officially opened for business as a general small animal practice in 1975 by Dr. Richard Updike. In 1981, Dr. Tom Kavanagh joined the practice and purchased Village Animal Clinic, P.C. the following year. Over the past several decades, much has changed at the practice, but the one thing that has remained consistent is the dedication of our staff to delivering the highest quality of veterinary care and exceptional client service.

We are a full-service veterinary health care facility serving the medical, dental, diagnostic and surgical needs of small companion animals, including dogs, cats, and pocket pets. Our services and state of the art facility have been specifically designed to assist our patients as they navigate through the various life stages, from birth through the senior years. Our goal is to provide all the care necessary to extend and improve the quality of life of each patient that we serve. We’ll also work with you to arm you with all the tools and knowledge you’ll need to keep your pet happy and healthy.

In addition to our general practice, Dr. Kavanagh is one of the three board-certified veterinarians in the state of Michigan specializing in dentistry, oral surgery, and oral medicine. Some of the common dental and oral health problems we deal with are periodontal disease, root canals, fillings, orthodontics, oral surgery, and medical conditions affecting the oral cavity.

At Village Animal Clinic, we know firsthand the important role that pets play as part of the family. That’s why we always provide each pet that we care for with the same level of compassion and personal attention as if they were our very own. We want to become your trusted partner in all of your pet care needs and we hope to welcome you and your animal companion to our office soon!
